Farm Service Elevator has a full-time opportunity in the role of Maintenance Technician. An affiliate of Life-Science Innovations, Farm Service Elevator processes 6.5 million bushels of corn to manufacture over 350,000 tons of poultry feed sold primarily to commercial farms and independent poultry growers throughout Minnesota.
Summary of Responsibilities: Performs overall general maintenance of feed mill equipment, to ensure optimal production with limited equipment and machine downtime.

Summary of Responsibilities: Performs overall general maintenance of feed mill equipment, to ensure optimal production with limited equipment and machine downtime.
- Under minimal supervision, maintains and repairs mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, conveyor, pump, steam and electrical systems using preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment is performing safely to required specifications
- Identifies root cause of more complex/difficult mechanical and electrical issues and repairs using welding, fabrication, and electrical/process control knowledge. Notifies appropriate personnel if further attention is required
- Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment in and around the elevator
- Research and presents ideas for permanent fix for recurring mechanical or electrical problems
- Maintains written inventory of tools, parts, blueprints and operating manuals and procedures
- Keeps shop clean and organized
- Ensures equipment is in safe operating condition and operates all machinery in compliance with FSE safety and OSHA guidelines
- Identifies and corrects unsafe conditions. Notifies appropriate personnel and requests assistance if unable to correct on own
- Works in compliance with all company policies, along with all local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations
- Actively and positively upholds FSE Safety Culture by contributing to safety for yourself, our team, and our customers
- Covers dryers during harvest when needed
- May backup Mill Operators as needed
- Performs other duties, as assigned
- Core working hours: 6:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday with some flexibility
- Ability to work weekends and nights, as call-ins are required
- High school diploma/GED required
- Associate or Technical degree preferred
- Special Boiler License or ability to acquire within 6 months
- Knowledge of Feed Mill operations including applicable FSMA requirements
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs
- Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines related to maintenance work, including forklift operation, lockout/tagout, confined spaces, etc.
- Communications skills to effectively work with a variety of people, supervisors, employees and departments
- Time management and organizational skills
- Strong work ethic and positive demeanor
- Problem solving skills
- Skill in using the following items: wire feed welder, arc welder, and cutting torch
- Skill in operating forklift, skid loader, and pay loader
- Strong mechanical aptitude with abilities in the following skill areas: basic electrical, compressors, welding, conveyors, gearing, hydraulics, PLC, fabrication, pneumatics, pumps, and preventative maintenance
- Ability to lift 60 pounds, occasional bending and lifting required; able to stand on feet for extended periods of time; climb ladders frequently
